Commando Vanessa announces its first compilation: titled “Mansplained!”, released on tape and digitally January 28th, 2021.

"Mansplained!"  is a compilation to celebrate our first year of activity.
Not an easy task... to young to have a clearly defined personality and too old not to have one.

Lots of thoughts crossed our minds, mainly revolving all around the same question: should we try to do something different? Lots of advice came our way: you should! You must! You need to! Let me show you how things are done!

So, this one is not only a combined action taken in Commando Vanessa style, but also a reaction.
We are not looking to be different, we just want to embrace differences.
That’s why this is what it is: a diverse, colorful, exaggerated, intimate, political, sexy compilation.
Just a flow of different music we like.

LET THEM MANSPLAIN!

Tracklist includes: SIKSA, Black Propaganda, Marie Guilleray, HESS, Pillbug Junction feat. Kelso Ashby, Techno Thriller, Flawed God, Innocent Heretic feat, RUIN, DEEAT Palace, Lili Putana, Accident du Travail, HARRGA, Online Lipnem, The Marquis.

Commando Vanessa announces its second collaborative action:

the second album by J. ZUNZ, out August 21st, 2020. Titled “Hibiscus” the album will be released on vinyl and digitally via Rocket Recordings and on tape via Commando Vanessa.

J. Zunz - a.k.a. Lorena Quintanilla - better known up until this point as one half of Mexican duo Lorelle Meets The Obsolete - with her second release marks a move on sonically from earlier comfort zones in her work, arriving at a soundworld in which cyclical synth patterns, eerie ambient textures and cathartic vocal exhortations coalesce into a beguiling atmosphere of otherworldly intensity. Although some might hear echoes of the like of Angelo Badalementi’s ghostly raptures, the bleak epiphanies of Nico’s ‘Marble Index’ or Fifty Foot Hose’s spare sci-fi psychedelia, both the approach and the resulting tapestry here are Lorena’s and hers alone.

Commando Vanessa announces its fourth combined action:

"Pléistocène supérieur", the debut album by JOHN POUBELLE, out on tape and digitally on June 23rd, 2020.

Non-existent creature from the depths of the east Rome music scene, now relocated in France, John Poubelle defines her music as "Punk fragile de sous-sol" (fragile punk of the subsoil), raw and spontaneous yet intimate and vulnerable.

"Pléistocène supérieur"gifts us with acid synthetic "psalms" steeped in haunting reverbed vocals reminding of Nico's piercing plaint.

Commando Vanessa announces its third combined action:

"Due Matte", the collaborative album by VALENTINA MAGALETTI and MARLENE RIBEIRO, out on tape and digitally on June 11th, 2020.

Valentina Magaletti (TomagaVanishing Twin, etc) and Marlene Ribeiro (GnodNegra Branca), two of the most important artists of UK underground music, were invited to contribute to Hysteria, an artistic residency curated by Francisca Marques in Porto 2019. "Due Matte" is the fruit of it: an interaction game between styles and sounds, mesmeric in its echoes of distant landscapes and enveloping in its spatiality.
A music exercise in "tropical concrete".

Commando Vanessa announces its first collaborative action:

the final album by Belgian based musiciant CHRISTOPHE CLEBARD will be co-released in different formats with MAISON DE RETRAITE, BLOC NOTE and SWALLOWING HELMETS. Titled "SSS", the album will be out via Commando Vanessa on a limited special edition tape on February 4th, 2020. Christophe Clébard, enfant terrible of synth punk scene, plays a crappy synth and a drum-machine to painfully celebrate love, loss and pain. Live, he hooks the audience with a naked performance that reminds of a panick attack you will never forget. If love is a lost battle, why not fight the pain using distorted melodies and intoxicating rythms.

Commando Vanessa announces its second combined action:

"II", the debut album by Japanese noise artist YUKO ARAKI, out on tape and digitally on October 17th, 2019. Trained pianist, fan of extreme punk and hardcore, drummer of the wonderful KUUNATIC, Yuko Araki delivers intergalactic noise fused synthscapes through her exceptional sound processing sensibility.

Commando Vanessa announces its first combined action:

the debut album by Italian musician MOTHER, out on tape and digitally on October 2nd, 2019. A long time agitator of the Turin music scene, MOTHER (solo project of Tommaso Bonfilio of SabaSaba) uses a mixture of tape cut-ups, crooked percussions, stretched voice and some random languishing instruments to convey an album filled with deep sweet and sour darkness in form of perverted songs as if in a collaboration between William Burroughs and Martin Rev.
